Dr. Brett’s Journey is all about teaching creative and common sense ways to improve your focus, communication, performance, financial well-being and overall sense of happiness.
Dr. Brett is a licensed psychologist, sports psychologist, and life coach specializing in relationships , entrepreneurship, and athletic performance. In addition to public speaking, writing, and business consulting, his primary focus is coaching athletes and entrepreneurs who are highly committed to personal growth and self-awareness. His core philosophy is to avoid nothing, be as present as possible, have bang-up integrity, honor yourself, and develop and trust your intuition!
Dr. Brett graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, GA with a BA in Economics and Psychology in 1989. After working in business in New York City for two years, he attended the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, receiving his doctorate in 1995. Dr. Brett established a thriving private practice in Fairfield County, CT while in his thirties. At age forty, he decided to put his former life on hold and travel across the country into the relative unknown in search of a more meaningful life. His adventures took him and his Labradoodle Tuck to Florida, California, Colorado, and New Mexico where he met his best friend and soul mate. Together they traveled the country, exploring present moment time and partnership, living life well outside the suburban norm of career, marriage, family, and retirement.
After experiencing a devastating health crisis and horrific loss, Dr. Brett returned to Connecticut at age 43, rebuilt his life, and developed the philosophy for success that he now shares with his clients. In addition, his book Conversations with Dr. Brett, is currently available on Amazon Kindle. In this story, Dr. Brett teaches a young woman named Katie much of what he has learned in over 30,000 hours of working with people and living adventurously. With passion, wisdom, and humor, Dr. Brett helps Katie and several others explore present moment time, meditation, mindfulness, and bang-up communication as it relates to love, work, and intimacy.
Dr. Brett currently travels between three core hubs: Fairfield County, Connecticut, Los Angeles, California and Bangkok, Thailand. In addition to continuing his coaching work with athletes and entrepreneurs, he is developing a Sports Psychology seminar based on his 30 Days to Mental Toughness program!

We then identify core themes and critical issues that affect your success in your personal life and careerl. These may include dramas, distractions, limiting beliefs, compulsive habits, and other self-sabotages. We address those patterns systematically until you have the confidence, clarity, and focus to bring your game to the next level!
Over time, clients more thoroughly incorporate my core philosophy of avoiding nothing, being as present as possible, having bang-up integrity, learning how to truly honor ourselves, and developing and trusting your intuition. This translates directly into greater athletic and financial success as well as that all too elusive feeling of well-being or happiness.

As a Licensed Psychologist, Dr. Brett is quite seasoned having done tens of thousands of client hours providing psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families, and small groups. As a Sports Psychologist, Dr. Brett provides intense mental game training that significanlty enhances focus, attention, presence and overall performance. Athletes learn The Five Performance Enhancing Fundamenats which include visualization, exercises on the breath, meditation, mindfulness and presence at a very high level. They also learn a ton life coaching skills that help them communicate more effectively on and off the field as well as manage their mental and emotional states better! Atheletes who are ready also look deeper under the hood at all kinds of fears, insecurities, and self-sabotages.
As a consultant, Dr. Brett has worked with numerous organizations and small business to improve communication, leadership, organizational habits, and atmosphere. For example, at a Los Angeles based production and management company, Dr. Brett helped the owners create a vision for their company, communicate, motivate, and better challenge their employees, and develop a happier and more productive work atmosphere.
